I've got just under 6000 to type. But I approacheth the end! I might make it. I might not. The fact that I don't have class today becuase of the storm that's covering most of the western US gives me a chance. (presuming work has also been canceled)

Hooray for snow days. I am at 7,866 words written and not going strong. Maybe I should turn my heroine into a telepath.

Go for it. It would serve her right. Give HER a little stream of conciousness from the students she's teaching. ~The Devil's Advocate Note: We are not crazy. Yes we talk to our characters. Sometimes it is the only way to get them to cooperate. it is an endemic condition of RPers and Authors everywhere.

Not last I checked. And update! I finished it. Not only did I get the 50,000 words. but I actually have a semi-coherent, definitely FINISHED novel! Well rough draft.

Ahh, I'll admit to you, I slacked. I got a humongous writer's block and began writing a new novel. I'm still at the statistics I was before, perhaps some more words and a few more sentences. But it'll be nowhere near finished when I submit it.

I've been there. This year actually brought me out of about 2 years of very painful writer's block. Just keep writing and I'll bet you're there next year. (I've been doing this for years and this is my first win.

I'll have to say, I'm an arts person. I play, compose, and study music, I sing, I act in stage performances, and I write. A lot. And I'd have to say that a writer's block is the most annoying setback of all. Nothing beats it. Not even auditions.

When you've sat with over 10 novels waiting for you and you can't write more than 2 words on any of them... and this goes on for something like 2 years or more, tell me about writers block. ~The Devil's Advocate

ROFL You said it 'sister'. Though even short writer's blocks are annoying. I'm glad mine haven't lasted very long, but that is probably because I try to write so little. Someday, I will likely hit a writer's block like what you describe on some work in question and I will complain to and commiserate with you DA about how frustrating a persistent writer's block can be and beat myself senseless trying to pound out a novel during Nov. while under the spell of said block.... Yep. Here I go being wordy again. Dern, NaNo.

Interesting...I may or may not join. Depends on my mood. I had planned to write a novel a few months ago, but lost interest. This might help motivate me. I don't know. We'll see.
I wonder how many people cheat with premade novels.

I just bought a flashdrive, which will make it more easy to tranport my work. I hate loading documents on CD's and my floppy disks haven't worked in the past. IE: I lost about 85 pages on one floppy disk after it got too old. Since then, I've saved all of my "best" work on my actual harddrive and another copy is now on my flash drive.

eh it's less important in the BS section. I look forward to seeing you all in November. If this thread has not been deleted /I/ will be resurecting it anually. Why? Because, like Site Updates which Stony updates whenever there is a website update, and the "introduce yourself" thread, it's that kind of thread. It has a purpose that is not really immediate when it's not november, and not needed to be placed in multiple threads when it IS november. As for people 'cheating' given that the only prize is bragging rights and a little web certificat? I'm with Nano on this. If folk find it worth cheating on they need more help than the actual prizes are going to give... the bigest prize is actually DIONG it. I finished my first novel ever this november... It needs massive edits and several scenes could be fleshed out and added, but I FINISHED it. You can't get that feel by cheating so why worry about the cheaters? ~DA
