Short Range Shielding

How do shields work with something in the short range? What I mean is most people don't have skin tight shields. Mine are a kind of hollow elliptical sphere about one and a half feet away from any part of by body. So what happens if someone extends their hand within that space between my shields and myself?

I don't quite understand what you mean. Are you refering to what will happen to your shield, or what the effect will be on the other individual? Your shield, of course, will stay in tact, because as discussed in previous threads, solid objects do not seem to have any effect upon psi or any constructs, unless specifically programmed to do so.

As for what will happen to the person psionically, well that all depends on what your shield is designed for. It could possibly have an effect on the person, depending on how much they use psi or related practices. If they also have a shield, there's a chance that the two will have a reaction with each other.

To really tell what would happen, I think we would need a better background of the programming of the shield and more information about the psionics background of the other individual. Sorry if none of that helped, I'm just a little confused as to what you're looking for.

So basicaly if I create a buble shield that extendsto like a foot ans someone will comeclose to me they will be in protection of the shield? Hmm....

I know what you're asking Innerfire and here are my experiences.

My shields are about 18 inches out from me at their furthest inner distance and 6 at their closest. I have people intrude on that space all the time. What happens most of the time is a minor breach of shields. I pick up that person much more strongly because they are 'inside' my shields. If they are psionic or if it's a really bad day they can act as an antena, essentially letting the entire world bypass my shielding. There are counters, though the easiest way to deal with it is to increase physical distance.

I've never had a touch actually 'break' my shields, and I can either extend my shields to include the other person or "layer' them... so there's another shield around them and me. I can also 'filter' them (that is put a much closer proximity shield up specifically against the individual that's 'too close'. ) It's worst when I am in the middle of overload and someone touches me. That makes the overload infinitely worse, at which point I am likely to loose my temper in one form or another.
