Hey there, guys. Me and my friend have been practicing Psionics for about a week and we've come across a problem. I still have yet to feel a Psi Ball, so I'm working on that, but my friend went ahead and tried to do Telekinesis; and now we have a big problem.
What he did was made a psi ball around a die that was balancing on another one, and then when nothing happened, he condensed the Psi Ball as small as he could while fitting it around the die he wanted to move, and then got rid of the Psi Ball as fast as he could; and the die popped into the air and fell to the ground. Ever since he has had the feeling that he has been pooling Psi in his abdomen and he can "feel it rushing through him" and it is seriously draining him. He also says that he is feeling depressed randomly off and on; I think he might have triggered Empathy. He is starting to become horribly tired and he can't do hardly anything. Do any Psions here have any bits of information they could give us to help me and my pal?

Well as for your problem, I have two explanations. One, you're simply not doing it right and two, since everybody responds to psi differently, starting out is wildly different for everyone. Some people get it on their first try and some people can take a month. Either way there is no reason to worry. Look up some tutorials and try again. I can't give you much help beyond this because I never had trouble with psi-balls since I already possessed some level of natural psi. Your friend however is a different matter and a more interesting one. You were trying to move a die through telekinesis but you weren't really doing telekenesis. You were trying to move a physical object with a construct which would probably fall under the force bubble category. In my (limited) experience with force bubbles, condensing them is not the greatest idea because it is hugely inefficient. It's funny that you mentioned a psi-pooling feeling in his abdomen because thats where your solar plexus is and according to many sites, that's where your body stores psi. I can't confirm this but it also relates to the seven chakras (which are part of eastern culture and have been found to correspond with your major nerve clusters) and, although it borders on the edge of fluff here, your friend may be generating psi for the first time. Keep in mind that the only thing I have to go on here is my own personal experience (which backs up the preceding) and when I draw psi, I usually feel a sensation near my solar plexus too so that's how I arrived at this conclusion so don't think of it as fact. I have no personal experience with people going into psi with no inborn ability (even though like 99% of psionics do this and many of the most powerful ones are just regular people so don't let that put you off so I put forward only a tentative guess. When you guys started off for the first time, you weren't achieving any results because your brains had to 'learn' psi (much like training any other mental function), your friend succeeded and now he is feeling a new, uncomfortable sensation which I am accustomed to by now. This triggering of brain function could have awakened some sort of dormant empathy but there are probably better explanations. I welcome anyone more experienced than I to assist me here and correct anything wrong. I by no means pretend to be an expert. However I do have some more solid knowledge on your friends physical condition. He strained really hard to do something fairly difficult on his first try using inefficient methods and so fatigued himself. I recommend he ground any excess energy, cycle in some fresh juice and just chillax for a while. Lay off heavy psi until he feels better. I feel fairly confident about this paragraph of advice so feel free to take it if you want, it's not guaranteed to help but it can't possibly make things worse. However, please take my explanation with a grain of salt until a more seasoned psion takes interest. I'll ask around for ya. (I think I know just the person!) Hope your friend feels better soon and good luck in your future endeavors ;D

The above advice seems right to me. But if that doesnt help and if the triggered empathy (according to you), then your friend should consider shielding (someone is got to help him on that; he seems to drained). Make a shield which will block all negative emotions, like depression.
But i dont think the problem is so complex and it sholdn't come to shielding...
