Hello. I wanted to ask if anyone was sure they weren't a "newbie." A newbie in my mind is defined as someone who has a lower than average understanding of some aspect of psionics that is discussed in this community. You may be amazing at telepathy, but don't know how to make a psiball or what we mean by psiwheel. This is the place for you to ask, what is that? Without getting severely bapped. I also see this as a place where people can come even if they've been around a while to seek help on something they have only studied limitedly. I know we have had some people stop by and ask newbish questions in other parts of the site, therefore, I started thinking. I wondered if they weren't discouraged by the fact that nothing had been posted in this section. So I started a thread to make them feel at home and help everyone understand that a "newbie" can be experienced in multiple areas and just lack understanding of a single aspect of psionics and still be welcome to post here where it is safer and the mods are kinder (or at least try to be). Happy posting.

A question in mind for OBEs. Are our body truly safe? I mean, beliving in psi, should connect it slightly towards spirits right? So, our body safe? Won't it be occupied by wandering spirits? or other OBE users?

The short answer is no. Your body is not safe. Best case no one notices. Worst case? Just look in a science fiction novel or two for a few ideas. They usually understate. We do not deal with the religious and spiritual implications of such things on these forums, but the danger of someone comming by physically or mentally when you cannot react immediately and doing something detrimental to your body or mind (for your mind is more vulnerable as well when you are OB). There are other dangers, but they are also not the perview of these forums.
My advice: Don't go Out of Body, Astral, or anything else that leaves you THAT wide open.

Yeah. I've never really studied OBE's, but I'd assume it wasn't for the average newbie or even standard psions. Some people read a lot on it because it sounds fun, but it can in fact be dangerous and leaves you very susceptible.

*Note to newbies: The last three post should technically have been a new thread. Don't be afraid to start a new thread to start discussing a new topic or ask a question that is seperate from current discussion.

Not a problem. It was just something I thought I should point out. Unfortunately, this particular forum doesn't give me the option of splitting a thread. So people just have to learn what the conventions are. Glad to have you around. I hope the answers you recieved were helpful.

was just curious.. with the risk stated. I'm just wondering why people are still willing to do it. And this information is easily available..

Heya, newbie here i hope someone can help me on this little puzzle... a year ago (more or less) i was having an OBE (actually it was three times in an evening, and i wasnt even trying), but the problem is i would stay out there for few seconds and then something would kick me back into my body, so i would feel like im falling and would flicker a bit... i asked my friend what was wrong, and he said i might be having some problems with chackras, i dont know if thats true or not... so i stopped doing it, just for safety reasons... anyway, now, a year later, i tried again, could manage to get only to the awake/asleep border, but not any further. furthermore, i do have some physical problems (a heart defect) anyway, i thought this might also make some problems.... so... what do you think? and forgive me if i made some grammar/spelling mistakes, for im not from an English speaking territory...

Ok this is not an OBE thread. Please take the question either to a new thread or one of the TWO OBE threads we currently have open. I'll answer there. The puropse of this thread is to help people identify what areas they classify as 'newbie' in and to (it seems) introduce some of the forum conventions to newbies to avoid confusion and the problem we seem to have in this thread (ie that it is VERY off topic.

So true. I may have to come through and clean this thread up a bit when I have time (i.e. move comments to the appropriate places and delete original messages--since I can't move individual posts on this forum). *sigh* Then I think I may lock it after some explanations of site conventions from staff and experienced members who are good with words and explanation (at least in my opinion). I'm sure there will be plenty to comment on that question in a new thread if you post it. Have you read the current OBE threads? They may be useful in preparing you for what you are about to be up against as far as dicussion here goes.

I should probably warn newbies here, too... I don't bite, at least not exactly. I DO expect well thought out posts. The BS section is for BS, and I typically don't bap there. I also tend to debate questions less than I debate ideas, which are inturn debated less than people actually proposing THEORIES. (Working Hypothesese fall under 'ideas'.) I will ask questions for the latter two, to see if you've considered all the angles /I/ am seeing, and hopefully help you either adjust or confirm bits of your idea/working hypothesis.
