This may have been covered, if so I apologize. (please point me in the direction of the thread so I may read it)
So I am going to start practicing telepathy whenever my friend becomes available, and I was re-reading the articles on psipog about talking with your sub-c.
I was wondering
Does anyone here do that?
If so, can you tell me/us about it?
How you started, the road to get there, has it helped, Funny requests from it.
Thanks, oh and move this thread if need be, I was'nt sure where to post this.

I'm not sure what you mean by talking with your subconcious. Could you point me to the articles on psipog? Future reference "General Psionics" would likely be the best place for a thread like this. This is for those heated debates we would like to keep off the other boards. ~The Devil's Advocate

DA, he means speaking with your mind or your mind speaking to you through feeling...AKA the Sub-conscious. Like being hungry and getting that feeling of needing to eat, people say that's the sub-conscious communicating.
demig, your minds(Conscious, Sub-Conscious, and unconscious) aren't isolated. They communicate all the time, every second. Just nobody notices since this communication usually starts when your brain becomes active. You'll just have to take more awareness in your thoughts and feelings.
If you have trouble, go walk out into nature or a park. Just relax and experience everything while asking questions. Sometimes that'll open up this conscious awareness of the sub-conscious. At least, from my experiences.

So Empathy vs. Telepathy... The thing is both can be fully conscious, and I've seen both act subconsciously. Which means your definition isn't quite complete enough, at least not for me. The suggestion's a good one, I'm just not entirely certain that that was what he meant. I'd like to hear his answer as well.

psipog.net/art-communicating-with-subc.htmlthere is the link DA. Make sure to read the link in the article to robert peterson as well. You should understand a little better after that. @nev: So as i'm sitting here right now, my I am starving. My stomach has the feeling of being empty and growling. Basically my sub-c is "telling" me that I am hungry as well? Do YOU talk to your sub-c?

Use gnosis. You wanted to communicate with the subconscious mind. Gnosis is the state of not thinking. The state of gnosis provides a gap or hole in the conscious mind straight into the subconscious mind. A person can enter this state through exhaustion, deep meditation, trance states, and orgasm.
Abstract symbols can be used. Symbols are the language of the subconscious, you can turn what it is you want to communicate to the subconscious mind into an abstract symbol and then consciously forget about the meaning and then glance at it while entering gnosis. The conscious mind won't recall the state itself, so whatever was done during that state would be stored in the subconscious mind. It would be as if you zoned out. Most people enter this state via meditation but it can be easily entered via orgasm (the mind automatically enters that state at the point of climax).

@nev: So as i'm sitting here right now, my I am starving. My stomach has the feeling of being empty and growling. Basically my sub-c is "telling" me that I am hungry as well? Do YOU talk to your sub-c? Sub-conscious isn't an entity. It's a mind like the conscious or unconscious. They both work together and have access to the brain since they're caused by the processing of the brain. So, if you're hungry, this sends messages to your brain which will cause a nagging "You're hungry!" feeling which people would say is the sub-conscious communicating. I like to see it as messages being passed along from one place to another place then through the unconscious to the sub-conscious until it reaches the conscious. As well, I also see the sub-conscious as the unconscious personal translator. rayndragon, that vocabulary doesn't match. Gnosis is understanding of spiritual mysteries: knowledge of spiritual truths reputedly possessed by the ancient Gnostics, who believed them to be essential to salvation. So...yeah.

"Gnosis is loosely defined as a break in, or overwhelming of, the parts of the mind involved in rational function, and thus a temporary paralyzation of the psychic censor. There are about as many ways of achieving this "state" as there are people to achieve it; the most readily available, however, are such things as sex, drugs, physical exhaustion, hyperventilation, and spinning (like a dervish or Sufi might do). Basically, any activity that throws the mind into a state of total confusion (think for a moment of the mental breakdown engendered by a powerful orgasm) can be useful in achieving gnosis."
"Gnosis is a lapse in conscious/rational/discursive/ discriminatory mind that allows the subconscious to fully function. The easiest example of this state that comes to mind is the exact moment of orgasm. The term "gnosis" is used (I think) because the state allows for the instantaneous, intuitive (as opposed to consciously deduced) grasping of a much larger set of the variables involved in causing an outcome to manifest from any given state of events. This is done because the time it takes to reason out such a large set prohibits effect; by the time the relationships are consciously worked out, the variables have changed. It must be done instantaneously in order to be effective."
There is a divide between subconscious mind and conscious mind. Psychologist will testify to that. Your model of consciousnesses is way off. Hunger comes from mid brain not the subconscious mind and there is not instant communication from one to the other. Otherwise, we would all know our subconscious quirks like the back of our hand, which we don't. In many cases the subconscious mind has an agenda that goes against what we consciously want or do not want. That is why it is called the unconscious mind, the conscious mind does not know about its workings. By the way the unconscious mind and the subconscious mind refer to the same same thing.
You have it wrong. When we experience something it passes from the part of our consciousness that is responsible for picking it up to the conscious mind and the subconsious mind as two separate files. The conscious mind stores it within the preconscious part of the mind. When one wants to recall a past event, like a memory, they reach into their preconsciousness. Screwed up things and sensory information that the conscious mind can not handle, is shoved into the unconscious mind where access and communication is restricted.
That is the paraphrased version, look it up for a more detailed explanation, I am pulling off of my psychology class.
Gnostics in the way that you are talking about are people who believed themselves to be in commune with the divine. It is a branch of Christianity. That is not what I am talking about.

BTW, must you NOT think when you want to "talk" or "hear" your subconsicous? It's just that I'm having problems not thinking. The only time my mind is idle is when I'm asleep (well... maybe not because there are rarely nights wherein i don't have dreams). When I'm "not thinking", songs that I know play in my head or I just come up with something to think of for the sake of thinking, or both happen. Ugh... So is there any way to talk to the subconscious without undergoing that gnosis thing?

Same here. There is constantly a song, or just some jibber jabber th0ughts flying through my head.
It's annoying when I'm trying to concentrate, and theres like, 50 random thoughts AND a song (or two) playing in my head.

Ugh... So is there any way to talk to the subconscious without undergoing that gnosis thing? Symbols. Use abstract symbology, or subliminal messages. Getting information from the subconscious mind is not advised. It can lead to a corruption of personality. The subconscious mind has alot of traumatizing things in it. That is why it is there. This is an extreme example, but I have seen it. What if you have an issue with the way you look. It is shoved way deep in your subconscious mind. It comes to the front. The next thing you know, the person is consciously worrying about their self image and becomes so depressed that they commit suicide or have a break. Say you have a subconsious urge to have sex with dead bodies and that comes to front. See, not good. Everyone has that dark side of them, those odd weird urges and feelings. Normally they are locked up in our psyche. Messing around with them is just asking for trouble. I have seen alot of people have breaks. I used to work in the counseling center on campus.

It might seem odd for someone virtualy unknown on this forum and with a single post to respond to this, but it is something that I actualy know something about.
None of the posts so far have really gone into the practicalities of how to talk to your sub-c. Sure, it's great to discuss the theory, but that's not the point of this thread.
So, if you do want to communicate with your sub-c, try this technique (almost exculsivly my own):
1. Enter a state of meditation/trance
This can be done in whatever manner you find easiest and best, but it is vital that you are in a semi-deep meditative state.
2. Visualize a staging area
At this point, you are going to create a mental location or staging area for the next step. If you have worked with mindscapes before, vist your's. If not, just image a comfortable area with a large door.
This door will act as your gateway into the sub-c. Make it something that you recognise as a door, but at the same time have control over, if that makes any sense. I visualize it as a sturdy metal door with magnetic seals and an external control pannel.
The door is created in this way so that the sub-c accepts that you are visiting it temporarily, and that it should not change functionality.
3. Enter the Sub-c
In my psionic practices, I like visualizing elements of my mind as locations. It gives me a frame of refernece and an ability to engage the given section on a much more visceral level. This meditaition assumes that the same thing also applies to you.
Visualize what you think your sub-c looks like.
This is more dificult than it might seem, but try to create a location that embodies a sense of forgotten knowledge, or lost secrets. This could be an abandoned library, or the access hub of a long-lost alien computer. Create a location that can be explored, not a tiny area or single room.
The sub-c is a creepy place, and there are things there than might be best left alone. I adopt the mentality of: Don't touch anything, and try not to make any loud noises, but do whatever seems best to you.
4. Seek knowledge
From here on out, the meditation will change based on how you visualized your sub-c. Your goal is to find something or some one that can provide information and knowledge. This is almost always something imediately recognisable as a source of information. Find this object or person, and speak to it.
I would highly recomend that you are respectful, any insults are very literaly being directed at yourself. Ask any questions you have, then leave.
5. Leave
I consider it important to not just sit up and end the meditaion at this point. Actualy go back out of your sub-c, in the same manner as how you arived, and close the door you opened!
Open your eyes, and perform any nessicary grounding.
I hope this helps, and post any comments or death threats.

Alright this thread died NINE MONTHS ago. That's more than a little long for a resurection.
Here's a little paradox for you, if you start CONCIOUSLY manipulating your SUBconcience is it really SUBconcious anymore?
On the surface your technique looks alright, but part of the reason your subconcious may look creepy is you may have the wrong adress and not be dealing with your subconcious at all. Why? Because the method you described is one that is frequently described as use for astral projection and OBE. Also, messing with the subconcious on a practical level is not something for beginners. You can do nasty things to your own brain.
Next time you want to resurrect a thread THIS old, PM one of the moderators? Wolf and Ladyhawke check reasonably regularly. Or PM me or Innerfire and we can bug one of them. An @mail to psilonline@gmail.com would definitely be another option.

Hmm.... I didn't realize the thread was so old. I was thinking a few days, not a few months. I guess posts aren't ordered by date last updated, then . I know the technique worked for me, and it didn't screw me up (No, no, I'm still sane... I'm still sane...), so I made the assumption that this would carry over to anyone else using the tech. Perhaps I visualize it as creepy because I accostiate abandoned with creepy. I can also rule out a sucessful AP, having never APed conciously at any point in my life, using any method.
