So, I saw this idea on the PsiPog forums, I made animals out of psi. So far I have a snake, a Bearded Dragon, and a Ferret. Everyday when I come home from school, I have to 'feed' them. It is so cool. Has anyone else tried anything like this before?? Thanks to all replies!

Well, they dont talk or anything. When I 'feed' them, I program them with some new task. The ferret plays with my cats and keeps them occupied. The bearded dragon just runs around the houde and the snake curls around by chair. They dont respond really, its not like making new life, there just cute, and my mum wont let me have REAL reptiles or a ferret. The ferret responds to talking, but it just kind stays where it is when you start talking to it. The snake and the bearded dragon, I didnt spend so muc time on them, mainly the ferret.

Thank you! I am going to try programing 'consciousness ' into the ferret. Hes my favorite. Today me and my brother have been training (programing) him to come to his name which is Meldrith. I think he's got it. Next I'm going to work on the bearded dragon! Then of course the snake.

I'm glad you enjoyed reading that. I just finished re-reading. I thought there had been more to that.... I could be remembering wrong or else we cleaned it up at the time that it was locked. *shrugs* doesn't really matter. Just keep it safe and remember your not creating life or substitute life and you'll be fine.

1) Why would you want a concious construct with all the moral complications taht would cause?
2) It sounds like you've created psionic neopets... with out the adictive little games to keep you comming back.
3) Do you have any idea how complicated it would be to create something that's actually got a mind of its own even if there were no moral questions involved to start with?
Eh this is a project that has never made sense to me. It's just not as satisfying to pet a psiball as it is to pet a real cat. And if you don't want kids right now? I would recomend NOT looking into concious constructs. Seems to me there'd be very simliar moral issues.

You've got a point, Devil's Advocate. I think I'll stick with what I have. The reason I like the pet consructs is because A) When I start doubting I can just reach out and scan a snake. B) My mom wont let me fave ferrets or reptiles.
You've just made my life clearer. The people on this forum are so awesome!

Why dont you copy mental imprint(for the lack of better term) of a real animal onto construct?

What purpose would it serve? (Serious question.) And again, what ethical questions are you trampling on if you actually, somehow, pull it off?

DA is right. It really breaks my ethical code.

Well, because it is easier than to program it? But true, its not a great idea because it would make it out of element (like putting a mind of a fish into bird)
